zipping along

I’m trying to ‘get through’ the Quito pics.  Thankfully I took about a month off from my camera… just felt like I needed a break and needed to actually enjoy moments instead of insanely trying to take pictures of everything.  Plus, it’s kinda bulky and gets in my way every once in a while.

While the rest of the fam met up in Costa Rica for Andy’s wedding *tear*, Emi and I hung out at Beto’s house.  With all the cousins in the pool it resembled a very un-organized preschool.

holy ‘be fertile and multiple’ batman! there are at least 4 cousins present who are not in this picture.  the pool became kind of a mosh pit, so e stuck to the edge.

fortunately, we were reunited.  nana and tio richard arrived first.

bearing ‘street-walker-glitter-Barbie’.  Nana had no idea what she was in for.

Then this one started pulling up to stand on his own.

and has been trouble ever since.

Marcus arrived on the 3rd.  Some were super excited to see him.

sundays in los chillos

While in Quito we got in to the habit of going out to Los Chillos for a picnic on Sunday afternoons with the kids on the grounds of my Tio Andres’ house (aka Embassy Suites, Los Chillos :)).  There was plenty of outside space to run around and play, count cows and horses, fly a kite and lay out a blanket for a picnic lunch.  Some pictures from one of our trips out there.

before we left

To say I’m behind is an understatement.

After connecting the camera to the laptop for the first time in almost 2 1/2 months, the word ‘behind’ seems wholly inadequate.  There are t.o.n.s. of pictures for me to sift through and a mountain of video clips.  Even after my self-imposed vacation from taking pictures.  I’ll go through them in batches and post as I go but first… some pictures from before we left (way back at the beginning of June).

First… some brotherly love…

I had them both crammed on to the changing table.  luckily they were pretty much pinned in and unable to move.

look who was barely sitting up before we left.

the drool…. the smirk…. the spiky hair… it’s all too much.

06_10_11_18

before our trip, I wasn’t even close to sitting up by myself.  while mama packed, I did a lot of jumping.

I can’t have a post without a pic of my girl.  even if it’s a lousy pic.  but I love the look of concentration.

cuenta regresivo

We're in the countdown of days left in Quito.... days where I don't have to wonder what to do about lunch/dinner... fold laundry... change a diaper if I choose not to... and where there are more than enough arms to cuddle and love my three babies. Three babies who have grown a combined 8 inches, gained about a million pounds (not the girl... she's lost weight due to a bit of a growth spurt I believe), sprouted 8 teeth, learned to crawl, and speak way more Spanish than English at this point, and have gotten 'malacostumbrados' to all those arms to cuddle and hold them.
Ugh.
But at the same time we're looking forward to some nice hot weather (wearing a wool sweater as I type this) and seeing our friends back home. Not looking forward to grocery shopping and bathroom cleaning, but that's how it is.
Blog posts with pics aplenty and a couple nifty vids from Santo Ricardo coming soon. In the meantime, we'll be back in the QC on Friday.
